Bikini texturé

What texture means on a swim fabric

Texture is the surface construction of the fabric — the rib, the wrinkle finish, the ruched row — versus the smooth jersey face. The texture is worked into the knit or the finish, so it reads as the surface of the panel, not a pattern on top.

The pool runs 111 styles, about $24 to $59 — the solid ribbed cutout, the wrinkle high cut thong, the ribbed tie string, the leopard push up underwire and the bandeau ruched high waist across the texture family.

How the texture pool breaks down

• Ribbed builds — the channel knit on the triangle and the thong
• Wrinkle and crinkle finishes on the high cut panel
• Ruched rows on the bandeau and the high waist
• Metal and trim details on the textured face
• Underwire push up builds on the ribbed panel

Styling textured swim

• The texture is the detail of the outfit — keep the accessories off the surface and the texture reads
• For the metal trim builds, the hardware is the second detail; the face stays the statement
• Off the beach, the textured top under a light jacket reads as the surface that shows
• Pair the ribbed builds with the smooth cover up and the contrast reads as deliberate

Caring for textured swimwear

• Rinse after the water; the ribbed channel and the wrinkle finish hold salt in the surface
• Dry flat with the texture face up; the surface creases when bunched under the set
• Keep the textured set away from rough surfaces; the rib face and the wrinkle finish take the snags
• Check the ruched rows and the metal trim points after each wash; the surface detail takes the wear first
