What Is a Push Up Bikini?

A push up bikini is a bikini top with built-in padding — and often underwire — that raises the bust line from within the cup. The “push up” is a property of the construction: molded foam, underwire or gathered cups set the cup line, while the outer style can be halter, bandeau or triangle.

Wearing and Fit

Padding changes how a cup fits: a padded cup is firmer, so the size chart matters more — a cup that is too small rides up, and one that is too large gaps at the top edge. Check the listing’s chart and the pad type (fixed vs. removable) before ordering.

Underwire needs the wire to sit at the base of the bust, not on breast tissue — if a style pinches, it is the wrong size, not the wrong style. Molded pads keep their shape in water; rinse after salt or chlorine.
