A sling bikini is swimwear built around straps: vertical bands run over the shoulders and hold a front panel, often with a thong back, in a slingshot-like frame. “Sling” describes the structure — how the suit is held up — not the level of coverage.

The same structure goes by other names: slingshot, slingkini and suspender bikini all describe the strap-built frame, and the one-piece versions are sometimes called slingshot monokinis.
